About STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a comprehensive certification that ensures a textile product is free from harmful substances.

Every single component of the textile article, including threads, buttons, and other accessories, is subjected to rigorous testing by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes. These tests are conducted in accordance with the extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog, which takes into account both regulated and non-regulated substances that could be harmful to human health.

In fact, the limit values for the STANDARD 100 are often more stringent than national and international requirements. The OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog is regularly updated to reflect new scientific knowledge and statutory requirements.

With the STANDARD 100 label, manufacturers and customers can be confident that the textile article meets the highest standards for human health and safety.

Established in 1998 as a nonprofit educational organization, AIARE (American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education) has been dedicated to developing an evidence-based avalanche education model for backcountry users. With the belief that avalanche education, research, and training can prevent injuries and fatalities, AIARE has been disseminating research-based avalanche curriculum to over 110 Providers nationwide, as well as in France, Chile, and Argentina. The organization also offers professional and avalanche instructor training courses.

The seed for AIARE was planted during a chance meeting between mountain guides in the California Sierra in 1992. AIARE co-founder Jean Pavillard taught courses for aspiring guides and noticed that their avalanche knowledge was somewhat uneven, attributing this to varying curriculum and quality among the avalanche education providers they’d learned from. Together with Karl Klassen, another mountain guide, they agreed that it was time for a unified approach to avalanche education. At the time, there was no nationally recognized curriculum despite the increasing popularity of backcountry recreation.

Tom Murphy, the course director for Pavillard’s guiding company, recognized the need for an organized framework for assessing risk and moving through avalanche terrain. Klassen applied his curriculum development experience from the Canadian Avalanche Association to assist Pavillard and Murphy with their avalanche courses, and from this collaboration, AIARE was born in 1998.

From the start, AIARE integrated national and international standards and incorporated a decision-makers’ approach to risk management in avalanche education. The organization initiated an instructor training program to maintain consistency among instructors and provide them with best practices for interacting with students. AIARE consults with qualified instructors when developing new curriculum and supplementary materials to ensure their products are based on a wide variety of experience, background, and knowledge. The result is a consensus-driven process that has produced an avalanche education program and training courses that meet the needs of the trainers and course participants alike.

Today, AIARE curriculum provides avalanche education to more backcountry travelers than any other single avalanche education organization in the United States and trains over 100 new instructors every season. AIARE continues to develop standardized curricula for a complete program of avalanche courses that meets the needs of students at all levels, from recreational to professional, from novice to advanced.

    Aktion Agrar e.V.

Aktion Agrar e.V. is a German charity organization that campaigns against current agricultural practices that have strayed from the common good, and advocates for sustainable, socially responsible, and rural farming practices. They strongly oppose the agricultural industry lobby and believe that the much-needed agricultural turnaround can only be achieved through a collective effort with farmers and consumers.

With the growing market power of agricultural and food companies, declining species and structural diversity, and the current European and national agricultural policy fueling these developments, Aktion Agrar is dedicated to tackling the necessary change. They believe that the image of agriculture propagated by the industry lobby endangers not only the climate and the environment but also the existence of many farms and a lively rural area.

Aktion Agrar works with farmers, city dwellers, and enthusiastic campaigners to create momentum for the agricultural turnaround. They support active initiatives and courageous farmers who show that things can be done differently, offering them a platform to showcase their efforts. They also create creative campaigns that demand concrete political steps for rural agriculture that is ecological, socially acceptable, and animal-friendly.

Aktion Agrar offers information on current topics, workshops, and discussions with decision-makers to engage everyone since agricultural policy affects all. Their hundreds of supporters ensure their political and financial independence. Aktion Agrar also designs hands-on campaigns that offer many opportunities for people to stand up for a sustainable, better, and different agricultural policy.

    About ISO 50001

ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems is an internationally recognized standard that provides requirements and guidelines for the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of an energy management system.

The standard helps organizations to systematically achieve better energy performance, reduce energy costs, and greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance energy security. It is applicable to organizations of any size, sector, or location.

ISO 50001 is modeled after the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. One significant feature of ISO 50001 is the requirement to improve energy performance, which distinguishes it from other management system standards. Organizations choose their own quantitative targets and create an action plan to achieve them, resulting in tangible financial benefits.

The latest version of ISO 50001, ISO 50001:2018, was released in August 2018 and is modular with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

    AIARE

    About ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is a family of standards that outlines the requirements for an environmental management system (EMS) that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance.

ISO 14001 aims to help organizations minimize their negative impact on the environment and comply with relevant laws, regulations, and other environmental requirements. Additionally, the standard promotes continual improvement in environmental performance by providing a systematic approach to environmental management.

Third-party organizations perform certification to ISO 14001, and the standard is used worldwide. The most recent version, ISO 14001:2015, was published in September 2015. The standard is also a part of the European Union’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), which places more demands on an organization’s performance improvement, legal compliance, and reporting duties.

    PeakPerformance

Embarking on a journey in the snowy expanses of Åre, a quaint mountain village in northern Sweden, Peak Performance took shape amidst the powdery slopes and crystalline snowflakes, embodying the freeride spirit in its core values. Founded in 1986 by two fervent skiers, including a world-class mogul skier, it evolved from a casual chairlift conversation about the absence of desirable skiwear - apparel that harmoniously melded impeccable functionality with clean, aesthetically pleasing design. It was this thirst for both aesthetic and functional skiwear that birthed Peak Performance, originating as a modest endeavor, with aspirations simply of crafting garments for personal use and that of their friends. Surprisingly, this initiative resonated in an era where authenticity and genuine quality were becoming the sought-after alternatives to the extravagance and superficiality predominant in the late 1980s. The brand’s ski jackets, flannel shirts, and leather detailing, striking a chord with many, contrasted sharply with the neon and ostentatious styles of the time, emanating a genuine, grounded appeal. At its inception, Peak Performance was markedly guided by personal interests and passions, with design and technical solutions holding pivotal importance. The strategy culminated in success, even overwhelming the small post office in Åre due to the influx of orders initiated by their first mail-order catalog. The stoic nature and breathtaking landscapes of Åre, known for its tree-lined skiing, vast off-piste terrain, and at times harsh weather conditions, instilled in Peak Performance a formidable mantra: "if it can handle Åre, it can handle anything." Not far from Åre’s central square and the brand's store, the Peak Performance Mountain House stands resilient against the mountain backdrop - a beloved spot to relish skiing, test products, and remain proximate to their roots. Complementing their pursuit of crafting durable and attractive skiwear, on the second floor of the store in Åre lies Åre Syverkstad, a repair shop where garments have been meticulously repaired since 1996 under the expert hands of Marie. Her unparalleled knowledge about Peak Performance products, particularly those comprised of Gore-Tex, adds another layer to the brand’s commitment to longevity and quality in their products. Meanwhile, the brand’s headquarters in Stockholm harbors a dynamic and dedicated crew, navigating through the diverse facets that encompass Peak Performance, from Design and Sourcing to Marketing and Sustainability. Settled in an old warehouse within one of the city's ports, it presents a kaleidoscopic blend of diverse gear including skis, bikes, kayaks, and more, epitomizing the lively and invigorating spirit that reverberates through Peak Performance HQ. At the helm of Peak Performance stands CEO Sara Molnar, an accomplished skier, and a formidable leader in the industry, recently acknowledged as the “Businesswoman of the Year” within the Swedish Sports industry. Her stewardship, flavored by her palpable passion and intimate knowledge about skiing, seamlessly aligns with the brand's ethos. In essence, Peak Performance, embedded in its DNA, carries the freeride spirit to every corner of the world, intertwining it with every thread and design, and fostering a legacy shaped by a profound respect for the boundless adventure that awaits in the backcountry.

    AIARE

Aktion Agrar e.V. is a German charity organization that campaigns against current agricultural practices that have strayed from the common good, and advocates for sustainable, socially responsible, and rural farming practices.
