FOUR PAWS is a global animal welfare organization founded in 1988 by Heli Dungler in Vienna. Their aim is to improve the lives of animals under direct human influence by revealing their suffering, rescuing them from danger, and providing protection.

The organization envisions a world where animals are treated with empathy, respect, and understanding by humans. FOUR PAWS has sustainable campaigns and projects that focus on various animals, including farm animals, companion animals, and wild animals such as bears, elephants, big cats, and orangutans, that are often kept in inappropriate conditions or in disaster and conflict zones.

About Tencel

Tencel is a type of rayon that was first trademarked in 1982. It is composed of cellulose fibers that are made from dissolving pulp, which is then reconstituted using dry jet-wet spinning. These fibers are commonly used to make textiles for clothing and other applications.

Unlike traditional rayon, which is made through the viscose process, the production of Tencel or lyocell does not use harmful carbon disulfide, which is toxic to both workers and the environment.

As a result, Tencel has become a popular and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional rayon. The term “Lyocell” is often used interchangeably with Tencel to describe the lyocell process of creating cellulose fibers.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission classifies lyocell as a sub-category of rayon, with the fiber composed of cellulose precipitated from an organic solution, with no substitution of the hydroxyl groups and no chemical intermediates formed.
