The company was founded by Magnus Granhed in the 1980s, and today the RECCO system is a global standard for avalanche rescue utilized by professional rescuers worldwide.

The RECCO system is a two-part technology that consists of reflectors integrated into consumer products, such as apparel, helmets, protection gear, and boots, and detectors used by professional rescuers to search for and find people equipped with RECCO reflectors.
