In the 1930s, François Monnet, a merchant-bonnetier in Montceau les Mines, began offering his customers custom-made textile products. Due to the success of his creations, François Monnet transitioned from being a retailer to a manufacturer, harnessing the regional know-how of the local inhabitants.

As the years went by, Monnet recognized the emergence of winter sports resorts and the growing popularity of skiing. Consequently, the brand shifted its focus towards the production of textile articles for sports, with a particular emphasis on ski socks.
