About Arc'teryx
Arc’teryx is a high-end Canadian design company that specializes in creating technical outdoor apparel and equipment for mountaineering and Alpine sports.
The company’s headquarters is based in North Vancouver, Canada, and it has become well-known for its water-resistant Gore-Tex shell jackets, knitwear, and down parkas.
The company was established in 1989 as Rock Solid, but re-branded in 1991 as Arc’teryx, taking inspiration from the Coast Mountains in Canada. Arc’teryx has two divisions: Veilance, which is a luxury streetwear retailer, and LEAF, which is a retailer of technical gear for law enforcement and military forces.
The company has been influential in the “gorpcore” fashion movement, which involves wearing outdoor apparel in urban settings. In 2001, the company was sold to Salomon Group, and in 2005, it was re-structured under ANTA Sports after being bought out by Amer Sports.
